Karlie Valdez

Karlie Valdez has been practicing law since 2003 and has devoted her career to criminal defense on charges ranging from misdemeanors such as DUI and Assault, to Murder in the first degree. Karlie has a Bachelor of Arts major in English from the University of Washington and earned her law degree from Seattle University School of Law. In law school, she was a Rule 9 Intern for a nationally recognized personal injury firm where she worked on class action lawsuits and wrote winning summary judgment motions.

In her two decades of experience, Karlie has worked as a contract defense attorney for many of Seattle’s top defense firms, and ran a boutique law firm, Valdez Law. She quickly realized that her passion was being an advocate for accused persons. Over the years, Karlie has organized attorney training events such as Lance Platt’s course on Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and she is certified to administer these roadside tests. She regularly attends the WFCJ Annual Seminar on DUI Defense and is an active member of Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Karlie joined The Law Offices of Lance Fryrear in May of 2023 to be part of a team of talented lawyers who share her values, bring out the best in each other, and fiercely advocate for their clients. Although Karlie has enjoyed many trial wins, her favorite part of the work is meeting her clients in person, getting to know their stories, and negotiating the best possible outcomes.

In her free time, Karlie is the President of the Board of Directors for a local HOA and enjoys bringing diverse people together to solve problems. She grew up in a small coastal town and enjoys dancing, weightlifting, and quality time with her family.
